Tip of The Day

There seems to be no direct function to convert %MW to a %MF floating point using EcoStructure Machine Expert Basic. The compiler software on the Modicon M221 wants to restrict you to divide and multiply using whole number integers.  You can get around this by performing two steps in rung logic to achieve the fractional result IE: You want to multiply %MW100 by 1.5.... this program compiler rejects my attempt to directly multiply a REAL number with a WORD integer (conflicting data type). The equivalent of 1.5 is a fraction of 9/6, so multiply the integer by 9, then divide that result by 6. This is acceptable by the compiler. Thats less pain than buying a higher end controller hardware for a couple of math functions on a budget installation.
